Ireland’s second largest city, the urban population stands at approximately 125,000 people. Home to a range of arts organisations and cultural institutions, Cork was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2005. Cork was also listed among the “best 10 places to visit” by Lonely Planet it 2009.
